Seems there is an issue with transparency that we all should be aware of…
Transparency applied to a "box" with text will cause the text and background color to be transparent… There are several work arounds… You can see my test page here, look at the Source to see the solution.
Also, be aware that the Previews in your web editors may not display the markup they way it appears in a web browsers. Remember, test early and test often. You can use the web site Saucelabs.com to test your web pages for the "other" platforms.
